About the Faculty Solo Artist Series

We invite you to experience outstanding solo classical music in
the elegant setting of Opperman Music Hall.

The Faculty Solo Artist series, celebrating its third season, creates unique opportunities for members of the Tallahassee Community to hear outstanding solo artists from the Florida State University College of Music's internationally renowned music faculty. The series was designed to represent the broad array of music faculty who are actively performing at Florida State. We look forward to seeing you this concert season.

About The Series Passport & Single Tickets

With your Faculty Solo Artist Series Passport to great music... you decide when to go! A Faculty Solo Artist Series Passport will entitle you to the equivalent of eight tickets, each good for any of the four concerts, in any combination.

This year we are also offering the PLATINUM PASSPORT - which combines the Faculty Solo Artist Series Passport with a subscription to the Kaleidoscope Concert Series as well! With the Platinum Passport you receive the equivalent of 16 tickets to be used in any combination between either of the concert series. TWO GREAT SERIES - ONE GREAT PRICE!

Violinist Corinne Stillwell entered the Julliard School at the age of ten, where she subsequently earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees as a student of Dorothy DeLay and Hyo Kang. Ms. Stillwell was recently appointed Assistant Professor at the Florida State University College of Music in Tallahassee, where she will begin teaching in the fall.
 
Michael Corzine, organ

Dr. Michael Corzine joined the faculty of Florida State University in 1973. He received master's and doctoral degrees from the Eastman School of Music. Dr. Corzine has won numerous competitions, including first place in the American Guild of Organists Regional Competition in New York (1969) and the National Organ Playing Competition (1973).

Grammy Award winner Christopher Moore is in his fifth year as a professor of trumpet. He was formerly a full-time member of The Chestnut Brass Company which recorded 4 CDs, and won a Grammy Award with the CD Hornsmoke. Dr. Moore holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Performance and Literature from the Eastman School of Music, a Masters of Music in Performance from the University of New Mexico, and a Bachelor of Music in Performance from Florida State University.

Dramatic soprano Shirley Close has appeared in leading operatic roles in Munich, Cologne, Berlin, Mannheim, Washington, Miami, Dallas and the Bayreuth Festival. In concert she has appeared with the orchestras of Philadelphia, Bonn, Stuttgart, Oslo, Los Angeles, San Diego, Indianapolis, and the Caramoor Festival. Ms. Close holds a Masters of Music degree in Voice from the University of Southern California, and is an associate professor of voice at Florida State.
