Piano Camp

Sunday, June 9 - Saturday, June 22, 2013

Piano Camp Image

No Audition Required!  Registration opens on January 3, 2013

We have redesigned our summer piano programs at FSU to provide two distinct levels of instruction.  Our Piano Camp provides beginners, intermediate and even advanced players with instruction that is comprehensive and focused, but less intense then our Piano Institute and there is no audition required. Our Piano Institute, which requires an audition, is for students considering a career in music and desiring advanced and intensive instruction.

At the Piano Camp, the instructional focus will be on developing the student as an overall musician and building good technique.  Students will receive instruction in music theory, piano literature and daily workshops and masterclasses, as well as receiving two private lessons per week.  Students will also take two elective classes each day - selecting from Composition/Arranging, Steel Drums, Duo Piano and more.  The camp will conclude with a recital which all students will be able to participate in.

The students' musical day begins at 8:00am and ends at 5:00pm. Each day is divided into class periods and includes an hour break for lunch. A sample daily schedule has been provided below. Each evening, students can participate in recreational activities such as bowling, swimming, movie nights, ice cream socials, game nights and more. Official recreation schedules are handed out at camp check-in, but you can click here for a sample schedule.
