Double Reed Workshop

Tuesday, June 11 - Friday, June 14, 2013

Double Reed Workshop Image

*Registration opens on January 3, 2013

This specialized workshop for double reed players gives campers an opportunity to focus on literature and skills specific to their instrument. Campers will work alongside FSU faculty members to study solo and ensemble literature, tone production, technique development, how to practice for maximum effectiveness, and how to prepare for an audition. Campers will attend master classes, reed-making classes, and practice sessions. All campers will practice and perform in a small ensemble.

In general, required camp activities take place from 8am-5pm. A sample schedule has been provided below. Due to the short time span of this workshop, there may be some required night activities as well. Students attending this workshop should be prepared to attend fundamental classes, ensemble rehearsals and masterclasses taking place from 7:00-9:30pm. Official schedules are distributed at check-in, but you can click here for a sample evening schedule.

For an even more extensive experience, consider combining the Double Reed Workshop with our Middle School or High School Band Camp. The individual attention of the workshop combined with large ensemble instruction creates the ideal, well-rounded instructional experience. Discounts are available to students who register & apply for this workshop & our band camps. Visit our discounts page for more information on how to apply.
