Circulation Policies

All users of the Warren D. Allen Music Library are expected to abide by the policies listed below. In addition, all Florida State University students are expected to abide by the FSU Student Conduct Code as listed at http://srr.fsu.edu/.

Items may be checked out to patrons with an FSU or Florida State University System card. The loan periods for general books and scores (M, ML, MT items):

Periodicals do not circulate
Reference materials do not circulate
Microforms do not circulate
Library Research Library Research materials generally do not circulate, though they may be checked out by faculty and instructors for 1 week
Special Collections Since these materials are generally very old, rare, and/or delicate, circulation is determined on a case by case basis. Only full-time library staff members may retrieve items from Special Collections.

Reserve Materials

Books, scores, audio and visual recordings, and other materials may be placed on reserve for a particular course. These items are generally only on reserve during the semester the course is offered. The Music Library does keep some items on permanent reserve.

All reserve materials are kept behind the circulation desk. To request items, please refer to the Reserves binder at the circulation desk (organized alphabetically by instructor's name or in the Permanent Reserve listings of the binder).

Reserve items circulate for 2 hours, and may not leave the library without explicit permission from the instructor of the course. Only two reserve items may be checked out at a time.

Items which remain overdue past the specified billing date will be charged for the full replacement cost of the item plus any late/processing fees.  Once billed, you will have 15 days to return or replace the overdue item.  After this time no refunds for replacement cost will be distributed.
