About Us
Founded in 1997, the one-hundred member TallahasseeWinds performs four formal concerts during its regular season. The "season" begins in September and extends to May. The band holds four rehearsals, on Tuesday evenings, plus a dress rehearsal, in preparation for each formal concert. Guest conductors and soloists are frequently presented.
Membership in the band is available by audition as seats become available. If you would like to be called for an audition when an opening occurs, please call 850-508-8194 and leave your name, instrument, and phone numbers where you can be reached. A commitment to participate in an entire season is expected when an audition is arranged. In the first seven seasons the TallahasseeWinds has performed over 230 selections of quality band literature. In addition, it was invited to perform for the FMEA/Southern Division MENC Convention in January of 1999, and the National Convention of Association of Concert Bands in March, 2001.
