LANGUAGE REQUIREMENT:

Students opting to complete a Master of Arts (MA) degree must demonstrate proficiency in a foreign language by: Satisfactory performance on the Graduate School Foreign Language Tests of the Educational Testing Service, or Certification by the appropriate language department, or Completion of 12 semester hours in a foreign language with an average grade of at least 3.0 ("B"), or Four years of a single language in high school.

ARE 5262 Administration of Art Programs
ARE 5665 Managing the Arts Organization
ARE 5865 Arts Administration in the Public Sector
ARE 5253 Art in Community Service

 

OTHER STUDIES IN MUSIC:

  • Music Research - Students must take one of the two following

ELECTIVES:

Students are privileged to take elective credits (minimum of 7 hours) from the broad range of graduate studies at Florida State University in consultation with the director of the Arts Administration Area.

 

*NOTE:** MUH 5219 and MUT 5051 are remedial (or review) courses and they do not fulfill degree requirements under any circumstances. There are no exceptions to this policy.

These courses address past curricular and/or comprehension levels of core curricular content, as determined by placement examinations. Successful completion of these remedial (review) courses prepares students for graduate-level content courses in the disciplines of Music History and Music Theory.

Additional remediated coursework, in other curricular areas, may be required of a student as well - as determined by the Area faculty.
