Alumni and Friends
Given the current economic climate, we have made the decision to suspend printing hard copies of the Alumni Magazine. Our online version of the Alumni Magazine will be posted each fall, right here, for you to view, download, or print. This approach will result in significant cost savings to the College of Music, and has the added benefit of being good for the environment. Take a moment to click on the link to the right for the Fall 2009 Alumni Magazine. This publication is for alumni, friends, donors, students, parents, and anyone else interested in reading feature stories on students and faculty, getting alumni updates, reading faculty news, remembering our deceased alumni, finding out more about our scholarships, and seeing the latest list of donors (there are 8 pages of them!) to the College of Music.
Did You Know?
When it comes to research published in the Journal of Research in Music Education – the premier publication for scholarly inquiry in the music education profession – a recent study calls FSU the single most influential institution since 1990.
“In summary, the impact of Florida State University on the research agenda of the music education profession over the past 15 years is consequential. The work of the faculty, graduates and students of Florida State has served as an example that might provide a model for other graduate institutions granting graduate degrees in music education to emulate.” – from the University of Illinois review of scholarly contributions to the Journal of Research in Music Education, which appears in the Winter 2007 edition of the Bulletin of the Council of Research in Music Education.
