UNDERGRADUATE MUSIC ORIENTATION for students beginning FALL 2013

This schedule is appropriate only for the session listed above, and should fit with the orientation schedule supplied by the FSU Office of New Students and Family Programs.

Music Orientation Check-in – Opperman Music Hall (OMH) Check in prior to the 1:15 meeting. |

Music Meeting I – OMH This meeting will present incoming music majors and minors with information about College of Music degree programs, policies and procedures. Attendance is mandatory. Parents are welcome. |
| 2:30 PM |
Parents’ Meeting – Opperman Music Hall (OMH) Music majors’ and minors’ parents are invited to meet with College of Music Dean, Don Gibson, or the Undergraduate Director, Ted Stanley for an informal information session. Students may attend as well. |
| 3:15 until 6:00PM |
Class Piano Exams – 4th Floor KMU This short (10 min.) exam is a chance for you to exempt some or all of the keyboard requirement for your degree. Keyboard majors/principals and students without prior keyboard experience do not need to take this exam. Exams are administered on a first come first served basis. Music Scholarship Meeting – OMH Attendance is required of all students receiving College of Music scholarships and/or out-of-state tuition waivers. The meeting should last about ½ hour. |

Tours of the Music Library – HMU Bottom Floor Tours will be available beginning at 3:30, 4:00 and 4:30. A member of the library staff will conduct these tours. |

Music Meeting II (Get to Know Your College) – OMH Preliminary group advisement and assignment of faculty advisors. Attendance is mandatory. Parents are welcome. |

Peer Advising – OMH Incoming music majors/minors are required to meet with the College of Music Board of Advisors (BOAs) – a select group of music students who will assist in preparing your first term schedule. |

Faculty Advising See your faculty orientation advisor for final check of your first term schedule. |
| 11:15AM |
Registration You are welcome to register for classes in the College of Music Computer Lab, 208 KMU. BOAs will be there to answer your questions. |
