Special Instructions for International Applicants

Undergraduate Applicants

Graduate Applicants

  • The College of Music admissions requirements exceed University minimum standards. Official English Language Proficiency results are required of all international applicants whose native language is not English, including applicants who have already studied in an English speaking country for any length of time. College of Music minimum scores are as follows:
    • Internet based TOEFL (IBTOEFL): 97
    • Paper based TOEFL (TOEFL): 590
    • Michigan English Language Assessment Battery (MELAB): 90
    • International English Language Testing System (IELTS): 7.5
  • A Speak Test is required of all international applicants who are not native speakers of English and wish to be considered for an assistantship. NOTE: Even if a Language Proficiency exam is not required for admissions, a Speak Test is still required for assistantship consideration. Applicants without a sufficient score will not be considered.
  • Completed Certification of Financial Responsibility (CFR) Form and supporting financial documentation and send to the International Center.
