Deadlines and Closed Programs

Closed Programs (Summer/Fall 2012)

The following programs are no longer accepting applicants.  The application for Summer/Fall 2013 will be available on August 1st, 2012.

  • Arts Administration (MA)
  • Orchestral Conducting (MM)
  • Performance (MM or DM)
  • ALL Undergraduate degrees and minors

 

Deadlines (Summer/Fall 2012)

The following are general deadlines for all applicant types. Specific dates can be found for your program using the Application Instructions section of this website.

October 17
Freshman Applicants – General FSU Application (NOT College of Music Supplemental Application) completion deadline for first notification date (December 14)
In order to receive notification from FSU on December 14, your FSU application and all supporting documents must be received on or before October 17. More Details

December 1
Priority application deadline for College of Music Supplemental Application. Because of the volume of applicants, please plan to apply as early as possible. The College of Music will continue to accept applications after December 1 as long as openings are still available for your intended area of study.

Postmark deadline for recorded auditions. The College of Music will continue to accept recorded auditions after December 1 as long as openings are still available for your intended area of study.

Postmark deadline for Graduate Voice Performance Prescreening Applications.

Deadline to complete the MM Orchestral Conducting application. Invitations to the on-campus conducting exam will be emailed by January 15. The on-campus exam and audition with the University Philharmonia will be held on Tuesday, February 21.

Priority Deadline for Consideration for Assistantships in Musicology, Music Theory and Composition.

December 17
Notification of Graduate Voice Performance Prescreening results.
January 4 - 28 
Review period for complete Graduate Musicology, Theory and Composition applications. Applications will continue to be accepted after this period as long as openings are still available. Please note the priority deadline for assistantship consideration is December 1.
January 18 
Freshman Applicants – FINAL FSU Completion deadline (notification March 14)
In order to receive notification from FSU on March 14, your FSU application and all supporting documents must be received on or before January 18. More Details

February 3 & 24

On-campus Graduate Musicology Interviews.

February 10 & 24

On-campus Graduate Music Theory and Composition Interviews.

February 21 
On-campus Orchestral Conducting Exam.
February 25
Final date for Merit-based Financial Aid consideration. Although the College of Music may continue to accept completed applications, no financial consideration will be assured after this date.
March 1
Final Deadline for application to the Summer Master of Music Education program. 

March 7 - 16
College of Music Undergraduate Decisions Mailed. After decisions are made all applications will be processed and mailed via US Postal Service. Please be sure your academic application to FSU is complete well in advance. Incomplete applications and academic issues will result in delayed notification. University applications submitted or deferred to the second cohort (March 14 notification by University) will be notified the following week.

Transfer Students: Notifications will begin on March 7th for students with completed FSU applications. Academic issues or incomplete files can delay notification by several months.
