Percussion
All applicants must perform in all listed major areas; please see below. Sight Reading is part of the audition. Repertoire below is only a suggestion; please contact Dr. John Parks if you have any questions concerning appropriate alternative repertoire.
Snare Drum: Etudes by Delecluse, Cirone, etc., orchestral excerpts (two).
Marimba: Four-mallet solos by Druckman, Thomas, Schwantner, Burritt, Ewazen, etc.
Timpani: Solos by Firth, Carter, etc., choose two standard orchestral excerpts.
Xylophone: Choose two standard orchestral excerpts.
Glockenspiel: Choose two standard orchestral excerpts.
Accessories: Choose one standard excerpt each for tambourine and cymbals.
Drum Set: Optional--demonstrate proficiency in different styles (swing, latin, funk, etc.).
Please remember to contact Dr. John Parks about your specific repertoire, and PLEASE learn all entrances in your orchestral repertoire, not just the "standard" phrases.
