Application Deadline: To receive full consideration for a New York audition, applicants must use the College of Music Admissions Supplemental Application to register for one of these dates no later than November 18th. Please know that there are a limited number of audition times available. As such, applicants are strongly encouraged to register at their earliest convenience. NOTE TO VOICE APPLICANTS: You must provide your own accompanist. Also, please submit a list of Audition Repertoire to the above address at least two weeks prior to your audition. Failure to do so may result in cancellation of your audition. You may submit this list using our form or you can email the list to the above email address. Audition Confirmations: Auditions will be held from 9:00am - 4:00pm (subject to change). Applicants will receive a preliminary confirmation following submission of application materials and request for an audition. Applicants will be notified of their specific audition time by email two weeks prior to the audition date. Applicants should note particular calendar concerns in their initial request to audition. Every effort will be made to assist with specific calendar concerns, if the College of Music is notified ahead of time.
Frequently Asked Questions
Are Graduate Voice Performance Applicants auditioning in New York required to submit a prescreening recording first? No. Due to the time required for processing, applicants auditioning in New York will not be required to submit a prescreening recording. Graduate voice applicants should be prepared to sing their audition repertoire in its entirety as time permits.
Where will auditions be held? The auditions will be held in Merkin Hall, 129 West 67th Street. Directions
When should I arrive at the site? Applicants should report to the audition location ready to perform no less than 30 minutes prior to their confirmed audition time. When the monitor calls you in into the room, there will be a brief check-in process at that time.
Are there warm-up rooms? There will be one warm-up room, with a piano, reserved for use by applicants. It is suggested that applicants utilize the room, as needed, for only the 15 minutes prior.
Do I need to bring my own accompanist? Voice applicants are required to bring their own accompanists. Accompaniment is not required for other areas, but a piano will be available if you choose to audition with your own accompanist.
What do I need to bring to the audition? Applicants should make every effort to submit all application materials to the College of Music by December 1st.
