Scores
Our circulating scores are generally located on our second floor. They circulate for 3, 6, or 16 weeks, depending on the patron category of the person checking out the item. (More information about circulation can be found on our policies page.)
Our scores often come in various parts. Thus, a typical trio may have 4 parts: 1 full score + 3 parts. Please take care to ensure that the item is complete and together before you turn a score back in to the library. If you are using the score for performance, please do not write in the score, as your markings may not be the same for others.
All of our scores and books have Library of Congress classification. Call numbers beginning with the letter "M" designate books specifically about music. Thus, 99% of our scores (and books) will begin with either M, ML, or MT. However, the library carries a limited number of books with designations from other areas (A through L; N through Z).
| subclass M | Music Scores |
| subclass ML | Literature on Music |
| subclass MT | Musical Instruction and Study |
For a further breakdown of these and other call number areas, see the Library of Congress Classification Schedules.
