2011-2012 GRADUATE MUSIC STUDENT WORKSHOPS

The following is a list of graduate workshops hosted by Dr. Seth Beckman, for the 2011 – 2012 academic year:

 

  • Friday, October 14, 2011: APPLYING FOR JOBS

This workshop addresses strategies for developing effective application materials – including analyzing job announcements and creating cover letters, resumes and curriculum vitae; cultivating effective references will also be discussed.

  • Friday, December 2, 2011: INTERVIEWING FOR JOBS

This session discusses effective phone interview and personal interview skills, including essential preparatory work.

  • RESCHEDULED to: Friday, February 17, 2012: SURVIVAL SKILLS IN THE PROFESSION

This workshop addresses introduces (and reinforces) the skills necessary to survive in your first professional positions following graduate school. This workshop also addresses the most common mistakes made by people in both their professional and personal lives – behaviors that endanger their standing in the workplace.

  • Friday, April 6, 2012: MOCK INTERVIEW

A current graduate student will be selected to participate in a mock job interview with Dr. Seth Beckman.  This workshop is open to all graduate students who wish to learn more about this process.
